The picture at the left side displays the Directivity Pattern of a loudspeaker customized with the CARA Loudspeaker Editor. One driver is mounted on the front baffle and the other one on the left cabinet wall.
At the selected frequency (about 6 kHz) you may easily identify the radiation patterns of each single driver due to their relatively narrow radiation aperture.
The 'Sound Pressure Level' may be determined from the color representation. The chosen color scaling starts at black (low level) and changes via blue, turquoise, green, yellow, orange to red (high level).
The complete set of CARA directivity data contains about 4,000 Sound Pressure Frequency Responses (118 frequencies from 5 to 40,960 Hz, frequency step = 1/9 octave) which are calculated by the 'Loudspeaker Editor' at about 1,000 angles around the speaker and at four different distances (1, 3, 5, and 10 m).
Due to this very detailed set of sound radiation data specified for each CARA loudspeaker model the results of the room acoustic calculations may well be compared with acoustic measurements (see also chapter 'Comparison: CARA and Measurements').
